Opposite sex couples can now give notice of an intended civil partnership.

In one of the final acts before Parliament was dissolved for the general election, final orders were approved to enable the Civil Partnerships, Marriages and Death Act meaning heterosexual couples can now enter into a civil partnership putting them on an equal footing with same-sex couples.

Opposite sex couples can now give notice of an intended civil partnership, the first to take place on New Year’s Eve.

A civil partnership is a legal relationship, which is registered between two people giving their relationship legal recognition. This will give you added legal rights, as well as responsibilities.
